Glocal Peace and Conflict has two major aims. First, to continuously illuminate global dynamics in seemingly local conflicts and vice versa, which is symbolized in the term “glocal” and second, to continuously demonstrate the utility of sharing lessons learned about violence prevention across borders regardless of one’s background. Generating this deeper understanding between the speakers and among listeners can indeed encourage a paradigm shift from thinking about conflict as a process that solely includes visible conflict parties and types of violence, toward understanding violent conflict as a system that has a range of forces and actors within and beyond borders that intentionally or unintentionally accelerate myriad types of violence. With this bigger picture in mind, we can diversify the nature and number of interventions that weaken forces perpetuating such harms. The only question remaining then is how? On 23rd April, we hosted a discussion with two excellent organizers from Cancel Rent DC, Patrick Gregoire and Veronica Mosqueda. Patrick and Veronica shared their experiences working within the coalition, talking through challenges and successes, and imparting lessons learned to better equip us all to organize and fight for our local communities
